It is interesting how social media platforms TikTok have not only been places where people post entertaining videos like dancing, but also where they spark debates about issues the world faces today, such as workplace situations.
@ugh_madison is among those TikTokers who are of the latter. One of her recent TikTok videos had her working at Walmart for nine hours straight for free, which caused her to go viral and spark debate amongst netizens.
Is working for free fair? The answer should be a no-brainer.
In @ugh_madison’s TikTok video uploaded on Wednesday, she went to a Walmart branch and worked there for free.
In the video, she was seen cleaning up and restocking shelves, among other tasks. A customer even mistook her for Gail Lewis, a normal woman who became an Internet sensation after posting a video of her quitting her job at Walmart.
After nine hours of doing the tasks that Walmart workers normally do, she left the store as it was getting ready to close.
Some netizens did not approve of her stunt, saying she should instead help the less fortunate.
“Walmart makes [millions] a year and they do not need the free labor. [Also. they’re] limiting jobs with self checkout. Go help homeless [shelters, orphanages, pat shelters] Really help your community,” the netizen commented.
However, others are amused, saying what she did was “super cool.”
“I am new here but this is super cool! if you haven’t done a dollar general you should try! that place is always covered in carts of items,” they said.
