Believe it or not, you can also shop on TikTok. The platform has TikTok Shop, an eCommerce solution integrated, enabling merchants and content creators to showcase and sell their products for other TikTokers to discover and buy directly through a complete in-app experience.
This Black Friday, TikTok is conducting a sale event. Actually, TikTok Shop’s Black Friday deals already began late last month, and there’s an unbelievable range of products with super steep markdowns.
For instance, you can get 50 percent off beauty products. There are also coupons offering 15, 20, and 25 percent off customers’ orders. And, there are also 30-percent-off coupons with no minimum spend for first-time shoppers on TikTok Shop.
What’s more, the app’s 200,000 sellers can also handpick items they want discounted on the shop. In other words, they are creating their own markdowns, which can be further subsidized by TikTok’s discounts.
However, experts say that these low prices are not likely to stick around, even if they are luring people right now.
“This kind of deep discounting, it’s not sustainable,” said Jasmine Enberg, principal analyst of social media for market research firm Insider Intelligence.
Nonetheless, this Black Friday sale is a pivotal moment not just for TikTok, but for the stores selling on the platform. When TikTok Shop launched in the United States in September, it seemed to rival Amazon, offering to store and ship products for its third-party sellers. But, experts say TikTok Shop is more proximate to platforms like Shein or Temu, and its performance this Black Friday will be a determining factor for its success.
The weirdest products are on TikTok Shop! Some of them include this snail facial serum with gold flakes for $3.20, a little box for $2.34, and – brace yourself – candles shaped and scented like Starbucks Frappuccinos for $5.63. These may not be part of your holiday wish list, but they are present on TikTok Shop, already discounting hard ahead of Black Friday.
Black Friday is happening this Friday.
