A woman got a receipt from an employee in a café in New Zealand, which contained words of insult targeted toward her family.
A woman named Kimberly Sze visited Coffee Supreme, a coffee chain in Christchurch city in New Zealand, with her family, including her two-year-old daughter.
She went to order breakfast items from the coffee chain’s menu, as usual, particularly fried and scrambled eggs on sourdough toast.
As usual, she got the receipt with an itemized bill for $64.50. But, the receipt, instead of indicating their table number, read “Fam w the terrifying kid.”
That was a clear insult!
So, Sze took to Facebook to share about what she just encountered, saying, “Writing ‘Family with the terrifying kid’ on our ticket and intentionally overcharging us… nice one.”
She added that they had visited the café almost every weekend, and that her daughter was always polite and friendly, never leaving a mess. Her daughter also never had a meltdown, never caused any problems, and had other people in the shop commenting how adorable and sweet she was, so she was surprised that the staff who gave her the receipt would write those words.
As a reaction, Sze and her family “walked out” that moment, before they received their food. She also slammed the shop for exhibiting disrespect.
What’s even worse, when she showed the staff the receipt, she said he didn’t say a word about it.
“You lost some regulars today,” the mom added. She also asked the coffee shop to “train their staff” a “little better.”
Coffee shop apologizes, says what its staff did was ‘totally below standard’
The manager of the coffee chain, Tim Norris, already issued an apology to Sze, saying that what his staff did was “totally below standard.”
“It’s not something we accept as a part of hospitality at Supreme,” Norris added.
