‘Murder, Oh God’: Mom Gets A ‘Death Certificate’ For Wagyu Beef She Bought For Her Son’s Birthday

What will you do if you get a “death certificate” along with the beef you purchased? For this mom and TikTok, that means produce a video and make it viral.

The mom, a wedding officiant and “amateur zookeeper” (according to her TikTok handle @mamaownby), purchased a wagyu beef for her son’s birthday. She said it was his request.

However, she also received a “death certificate” together with her purchase. Finding it interesting, she shared about this in a TikTok video that has already garnered more than a whopping seven million views as of press time.

In the video, the mom was heard saying, “Homer, it’s a baby” as she recorded another woman laughing in the background.

She then panned the camera to the “death certificate” she received with the purchase, which she placed on their refrigerator.

The “death certificate” said it is a Hokkaido wagyu beef and was 30 years old when slaughtered. It also had a stamp of the animal’s nose in the middle of the paper.

According to the American Wagyu Association, wagyu is a breed of Japanese beef cattle derived from native Asian cattle.

Because of its unique taste and tenderness, wagyu beef is finding its way into fine dining restaurants, the repertoires of gourmet cooks, and kitchens in homes across the globe.

Wagyu beef is also one of the most expensive meats in the world. It has been said that some butchers include a “death certificate” to make the customer feel they are getting more from their purchase.
