Streaming star NICKMERCS clapped back at “Call of Duty: Warzone” devs over a new skin they launched as he said it looked similar to his, which has been removed long since.
“Call of Duty” then followed suit, with NICKMERCS and TimTheTatman being the first to be chosen as inspiration for the skins. However, these two skins were eventually removed out of a controversy.
“Call of Duty” is a game franchise published by Activision, centering on a World War II setting. It has games like “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.”
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” is a first-person shooter video game whose story follows Task Force 141, a multinational special operations unit tracking down Vladimir Makarov, a Russian ultranationalist and terrorist who wishes to trigger a third World War.
Now, with the launch of “Warzone’s” integration with “Modern Warfare III,” the devs added a new Roman soldier-esque skin to the battle royale mode, and NICKMERCS is claiming it looks like the skin inspired by him, which was removed.
He commented on X, “Buncha rats,” with a rat emoji, referring to the devs.
Some fans have also suggested that NICKMERCS take legal action over the new skin that seemed to have not asked for his royalty, since he is claiming it looked like his skin.
NICKMERCS is a Twitch streamer and Youtuber who is also listed as one of Forbes’ top content creators for 2023.
