As promised, the first official trailer of “Grand Theft Auto VI” has been released! You can watch it below.
However, before the much-awaited launch of this trailer, a footage showing the game’s cityscape – which should be kept a secret before official announcements – went viral on TikTok, and some are saying it came from the son of a Rockstar Games employee.
A small video that preempted the gamers and fans of “GTA 6” surfaced on TikTok showing a preview of the game’s cityscape.
Eurogamer reported that there were two TikTok videos from a throwaway account, both giving brief looks of what are claimed to be the “first look of GTA 6.” Not much were gleaned from the clips, as both showed the same section of the same urban area, including a highway running through the area.
Moments later, @GTABase, an X account that posts “GTA”-related content, said that the footage came from the son of a Rockstar Games employee, stating, “in a totally unexpected turn of events, it appears the ‘leaked’ footage has come from the son of a Rockstar Games employee.”
But, further later, after a photo of the son with his dad claiming to be the proof of the culprit’s identity surfaced, @GTABase took a step back and said the photo is possibly “not the son of the employee.”
“It’s possible that the photo being used as evidence is not the son of the employee, or that the source of this leak is from a third-party attempting to pose as such,” @GTABase tweeted.
Ahead of time
This isn’t the first time “GTA 6” has fallen victim to leaks. Last September 2022, a massive set of footage and screenshots surfaced prior to official announcements, resulting in the arrest of an 18-year-old man.
It has been said that these leaks were the reason why the developers unveiled the first official trailer ahead of time. “GTA 6” is releasing in 2025.
