This Chinese Airline Accidentally Sells Tickets For As Low As $1.40, Says It’ll Honor The Deal

In booking flight tickets, seat sales are very popular nowadays. These are when travelers can buy tickets at incredibly lower prices. But when a seat sale is mistakenly offered, this is when things can go wrong.

China Southern Airlines recently made the news as it accidentally offered a seat sale worth just around $1.40 due to a system glitch. Instead of apologizing, the Guangzhou-based carrier said it is honoring the deal. Wow.

System glitch

According to a report on Reuters, last week encountered a two-hour system glitch on its mobile app, which is why some passengers were able to buy domestic flight tickets worth $1.37 to $4.12. Those prices are really low, especially if these fares are regularly priced from $55 to $69.

To honor the deal

Despite the revenue losses from this mistake, the Chinese airline announced via its official Weibo account that it is honoring the deal. Wow, so kind, huh.

“Passengers can use them as normal,” China Southern Airlines wrote, reiterating that tickets paid for and issued that time are “all valid.”

To clean up its image

The news circulated on social media, but some netizens believe that it was just some sort of a gimmick. One pointed out that this is to clean the “tarnished image” the country has in front of the world.
