Twitch’s CEO, Dan Clancy, faced an unexpected setback when his application for the platform’s partnership program was declined due to insufficient viewership on his streams.TwitchCon 2023, which began on October 20, saw a massive influx of fans and streamers converging in Las Vegas for the three-day extravaganza.
While at the convention, the CEO unveiled several upcoming modifications to the premier streaming platform, including a significant change allowing streamers to broadcast on multiple platforms simultaneously.
Yet, amidst these announcements, Clancy had to share a personal revelation he probably hadn’t anticipated: his application to become a partnered streamer on Twitch was turned down.
On his Twitter/X account, the CEO candidly disclosed his unsuccessful attempt to join the platform’s elite partnership ranks, stating, “For those who’ve faced rejection for Twitch partnership, you’re not alone. I too had my Partner application declined. I kept my application under wraps.”On Twitch, he’s recognized as djclancy, and he shared a screenshot of the email detailing the reasons for the rejection. The email from Twitch read, “We appreciate your interest in the Partner Program.
While achieving the Path to Partner is commendable, we regret to inform you that we cannot grant you Partnership status currently.”The email further elaborated on the reason, highlighting, “Your viewership has seen considerable fluctuations recently. We prioritize consistent viewership over sporadic spikes.
It’s worth noting that despite his demanding role as CEO, Clancy occasionally finds time to stream. Through his live sessions, he offers updates and addresses queries about the streaming platform.
