For horror gamers out there, the news that the popular horror-themed game “Five Nights at Freddy’s” will finally be adapted into a movie is a reason to really rejoice and celebrate. Why not? The game is phenomenal.
Created by Scott Cawthon, “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is originally a game wherein the player takes the role of a nighttime employee who must do everything to defend themselves against the hostile animatronic characters that roam their workplace.
Somehow, “Five Nights at Freddy’s” has also become synonymous with the gaming content creator Markiplier, known for his hugely popular videos on YouTube that feature the game.
Did you know he was offered a role in the movie adaptation? Only, he had to turn it down, unfortunately.
According to a new video shared on his YouTube channel, he had to turn down the casting offer because the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie came in conflict with his own movie, Iron Lung.
“It was supposed to happen,” Markiplier said. “There was a time it was supposed to occur, and unfortunately the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and my movie, Iron Lung, were being filmed at the exact same time.”
The gaming content creator added that he tried “to make it work,” but he did not like “to compromise the quality of” the project just for him, just like he would hope they wouldn’t expect him “to compromise” his own movie “on their behalf.”
That’s sad, but the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie is totally pushing through.
Directed by Emma Tammi from a screenplay she wrote together with the game’s developer, the film adaptation of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is distributed by Universal Pictures.
The story follows a troubled security guard, Mike Schmidt, who accepts a nighttime job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza only to discover it houses four animatronic mascots determined to kill anybody still there after midnight.
It releases this October 27th in the United States.
Terrifying. You can watch the trailer below.
