Matt Rife is a beloved comedian on social media, especially on TikTok where he has over 17 million followers.
However, he recently said that he once thought of “quitting comedy.”
‘Quitting comedy’
This week, the 28-year-old influencer graced the 2023 Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit – which was held in the beautiful city of Cleveland, Ohio – and shared to the audience stuff about his relationship, as well as a point in his life when he thought of “quitting comedy.”
“July of last year, I was really contemplating quitting comedy, moving back to Ohio, and getting a normal job,” Rife said during the event.
Advice
However, according to him, he got some advice from people important to him, such as from Dave Chappelle, which helped him stay balanced as he continues to ace his job.
“Dave Chappelle actually gave me this advice, he said, on this tour, ‘Make sure you’re still making time to live your life. Because that’s where material comes from.’,” the comedian said.
Chappelle is a stand-up comedian and actor who also has his own stories of quitting.
Furthermore, Rife also said he also gets valuable advice from his girlfriend, Jessica Lord
Another person helping him follow that advice is girlfriend Jessica Lord, who is an English actress and dancer.
“She forces me to take personal time, obviously, and I love that. Whenever she’s like, ‘Can we have tomorrow for ourselves?’ I’m like, ‘Thank you. I would love to have that,’” Rife said.
