Mark Zuckerberg has responded to Elon Musk’s recent statements about their proposed UFC fight on a new platform called X, emphasizing that he is not putting too much stock in Musk’s claims.
The potential MMA showdown between Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, and Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has generated substantial buzz across social media. The notion of witnessing two tech industry giants face off in the octagon has captivated fans, although no concrete details about the match have been confirmed.
Elon Musk had previously asserted that the fight would occur in Italy, a claim he reiterated in an August 11 tweet. Musk stated, “The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC). The livestream will be available on this platform and Meta. The entire camera frame will be reminiscent of ancient Rome, with no modern elements.”
Musk went on to explain that he had engaged with Italy’s Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, who had both agreed on a grand location for the event.
Nonetheless, Mark Zuckerberg has advised fans to approach Musk’s proclamations with skepticism, expressing in a Threads post that none of the details Musk mentioned have been confirmed. Zuckerberg conveyed, “I am enthusiastic about this sport and have been prepared to fight since the moment Elon challenged me. If he eventually agrees on a specific date, I will personally confirm it. Until then, please consider that anything he asserts hasn’t been mutually agreed upon.”
This isn’t the first instance in which Zuckerberg has cast doubts on their highly anticipated match. Approximately a week prior, he made similar remarks in another post, indicating his readiness for an immediate fight but also implying that he wasn’t overly optimistic about the fight materializing.
As it stands, it appears the ball is in Musk’s court to settle on a fight date. While no definitive plans have been confirmed, the notion of this extraordinary face-off appears to be gaining more credence as time goes on.
