Olivia Dunne, the TikTok-famous gymnast and Louisiana State University student, has revealed that she cannot attend in-person classes at the university due to safety concerns arising from her internet celebrity status.
Livvy Dunne, as she is known online, gained significant popularity since 2021 and has become one of the most recognizable collegiate gymnasts. Her massive following on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) has made her a social media celebrity.
However, this fame has brought some challenges, including security issues. LSU had to increase security measures at competitions because large crowds of fans demanded to see Dunne.
Recently, her plans for a traditional education have been disrupted as she claims she cannot attend in-person classes due to potential threats to her safety. In a July 25 interview with Elle, Dunne expressed her concerns and desire to be cautious, stating, “There were some scares in the past, and I just want to be as careful as possible. I don’t want people to know my daily schedule and where I am.”
This is not the first time Dunne has raised safety issues related to her fame. She previously posted a public service announcement on Twitter, asking fans to be respectful during her gymnastics meets, as the large crowds can be overwhelming for her and the gymnastics community.
The level of fame Dunne has attained has brought significant changes to her life, including the behavior of some male fans, which she mentioned during an interview with the NELK Boys. After appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated, she noted that some male fans have become more forward in their interactions with her.
