Guess who was spotted at Petco Park? None other than the infamous “Dr Disrespect,” considered the most ruthless and athletic video game competitor in history. Despite his Twitch ban and a move to YouTube, the Doc’s fame has transcended gaming circles, leading him to be recognized by baseball fans at a Padres V Pirates game.
Photos of Dr Disrespect at the game, fully decked out in his streaming gear, made their way onto social media, catching the attention of fans and the Petco Park operations team alike. The stadium even featured him on the Jumbotron during the game.
While some might have expected the Jumbotron to refer to him by his gaming alias, the title chosen was “YouTube streamer,” which sparked humorous reactions from fans. Despite this seemingly humble designation, fans expressed their adoration for the Doc, joking about his back-to-back 1993-1994 video game championships and playfully dissenting with the Jumbotron’s label.
Interestingly, some fans even attributed the Padres’ victory to Dr Disrespect’s presence, calling him a “loving god” and suggesting that he inspired the team to win.
Despite the mystery surrounding his Twitch ban, Dr Disrespect took the Jumbotron appearance in stride and retweeted the pictures himself without any comment. Petco Park also posted an image of him in the crowd, showing that his popularity remains strong, even beyond the realm of gaming.
While many of the older baseball fans in the crowd didn’t really seem to understand who the doctor was, they were still amused by his appearance and charisma.
